the sadhu’s song / an ending

I want to end my life
as a sadhu
I want to walk through winds and fields
skin kissed by sun and God
I want to die as a cloud
I want the skill of a fish
to slide through time
and leave behind my history
I want the hand of my lover
to be the moon
I want my mind to have silver thoughts
I want a chorus of emptiness
ringing in my ears
I want an ear of corn to be my soul
I want the running of ants
to be my feet
the sound of sand
my memory
I want to be woven of gold
as simple as steel
I want to be new white cotton sheets
flapping on the line
I want my end to be a blazing soliloquy of silence
